Foundation of České Budějovice
The foundation of a town in the south of the Czech Kingdom was an act of the sovereignty of the royal power. In order to be able to withstand pressure from the domestic nobility and foreign enemies, a town had to possess strong walls and build on stable economic foundations. The right to brew beer belonged among the most significant economic privileges. A life-like projection shows Czech King Přemysl Otakar II, nicknamed the Iron and Gold King, founding České Budějovice in 1265 and granting privileges to the town.

Archaeological findings
Archaeological findings from the 13th century prove that beer was part of the everyday lives of the inhabitants of České Budějovice. The presentation includes beer jugs, drinking cups and fragments of wooden beer-brewing equipment. The items have been lent by the South-Bohemian Museum.
